Penelope Lai
“Onchain is the new online.”
Penelope Lai is an interdisciplinary blockchain developer and researcher with a focus on next-generation on-chain social networks and the intimacy embedded within technical systems. Currently, she is a first-year Computer Science master's student at the University of Pennsylvania. Penelope received her BA in Interdisciplinary Studies (Media and Arts) from the Duke University-Duke Kunshan University dual degree program in 2023. Before Penn, she took a gap year to work at two blockchain startups in Japan and China, gaining valuable experience in Web3 social platforms centered on intellectual property and blockchain security (also living as a digital nomad in southeast asia!!).
This summer, she will join Coinbase in NYC as a Product Manager Intern (it’s Onchain Summer again!).
Outside of work, she enjoys creating digital art, writing sci-fi exploring alternate techno-futures, and visiting art galleries.
